I'm not sure about you, but I've always struggled with finding an eyeshadow that looks good with the color of my eyes. Due to this obstacle, I've always reached for neutral palettes. Recently, Ive stumbled upon an article in a magazine (I think it was Glamour) which explained which colors highlight your eye color when paired together.
In order to make green eyes appear deeper the makeup artists suggests using colors that are in the purple family, such as violet, lilac or eggplant.
Brown eyes need bright colors in order to pop. The makeup artist suggested using shades of blue, leaning towards vivid colors, such as cobalt blue or eclectic indigo.
Blue eyes stand out when paired with colors that are in between purple and red shade family, such as deep plum or burgundy.
I hope this guide helps some of you, who are struggling with picking an eye shadow that enhances your natural eye color .
Wonderful post! I have brown eyes and never used blue eyeshadow, I'll have to try it out.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same - I've always worn neutrals! I'm a little scared of wearing blue eyeshadow - I feel like it could become very 80s (and not in a good way!) very quickly!
ReplyDeleteThis may sound strange, but my eyes change color; some days they look bright green, but they are also sometimes hazel or grey. It is so strange. I will be sure to wear purple shadow next time they are green though!

Great post! I wish I had blue eyes for the sole reason of wearing browns, oranges and reds. Those are my favourite pairs, they make them pop so much! I think out of all the colours, purple is a universal colour for any eye.
